Closet Case Ebony Top

As I already mentioned, I’m a real fan of Closet Case patterns.  This is the Ebony top/dress and I’ve made it three times so far.  (I’ve only got photos for two – the other one must still be in a packing box!)

They are made from quite thick t-shirt jersey so they’re not super drapey like some of the model photos on the site but nicely swishy when you move.

These were made last year so I’m not sure where I got the fabric from but they are both Art Gallery designs – the blue is this one  and the striped is this one.

I’ve only made the raglan version with the scoop neck so far with both long and short sleeves.  I didn’t have to make any fitting adjustments at all – this is the medium length with no shortening.

Even though this takes tons of fabric (for a t-shirt) I don’t feel swamped in it. It has enough fitting around the shoulders and arms to stop it feeling like a muumuu.

It is so nice to be able to get some draught in this heat-wave!

These tops would probably be better styled with less baggy jeans or probably shorts in the summer.

Anyway – this pattern is super easy to make, really from cutting to wearing is just a couple of hours. I’m tempted by the cropped version next.
